Russian Attacks on Ukraine Kill Several in Overnight Strikes

At least eight people were killed and dozens wounded, with the heaviest casualties in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk and western Lviv regions. More than 70 missiles, including ballistic variants, and over 280 attack drones were deployed, with more than 260 drones intercepted by Ukrainian defenses.
Zelenskyy Calls for Urgent Air Defense Support
"Given the critical shortage of air defense missiles from our partners, our warriors are accomplishing truly incredible things, demonstrating a very high level of professionalism," Zelenskyy said. He emphasized that protection against the Russian missile threat remains the most important task for saving Ukrainian lives. The president again called for allies to send Ukraine more anti-ballistic missiles to counter the ongoing threat.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces carried out a devastating attack that killed six people and wounded ten others, according to Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the regional military administration. Children were among the casualties, including a 6-year-old girl and boys aged 11 and 17. Zelenskyy noted on X that the children’s parents were also killed in the same strike, describing it as an ordinary home blown into smithereens by a ballistic missile.
Meanwhile, Poland scrambled fighter jets as the Russian attacks unfolded. Reuters reported that Polish police discovered a crater and debris in a field after an unidentified object disappeared from army radar while tracking through Polish airspace during the Russian attacks.
Widespread Damage Across Multiple Regions
In the Poltava region, a drone strike hit warehouses at a private enterprise, killing one person, said regional head Vitalii Diakivnych. A delivery hub was also attacked, sparking a fire that was quickly extinguished by State Emergency Service units with no additional injuries. In Lviv, injuries from a Russian missile attack rose to 30 as rescue operations continued, according to Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv regional military administration.
The city was struck at approximately 4:45 a.m., with the worst damage to two residential buildings, said Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi. More than 20 residential buildings were damaged, along with a school and two kindergartens. Children were among those injured, including one hospitalized patient. Russian forces also struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles, killing a 31-year-old man and wounding two others, the National Police press service confirmed.
Residential buildings, a market, a garage cooperative, storage facilities and vehicles were damaged in the capital, police said. In the Kyiv region, five people were wounded in the Brovary district, including a minor and two women, acting regional administration head Ruslan Oliinyk reported on Facebook.
On the Russian side, the Defense Ministry said the armed forces launched a massive overnight strike on air bases, arms factories and military telecommunications and logistics facilities in Kyiv, Lviv and several other Ukrainian regions. The military also targeted a ship in the Pivdennyi port and two ships east and south of Odesa. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that air defenses downed 258 Ukrainian drones overnight.
In Penza, Governor Oleg Melnichenko said a Wildberries online retailer depot was set ablaze. One person was injured and 200 workers were evacuated. Wildberries also confirmed that its warehouse in Sarapul in the Udmurtia region was struck by a Ukrainian drone and set on fire, with workers safely evacuated. These attacks represent the latest in a series of Ukrainian strikes targeting Wildberries depots, causing massive damage to Russia’s largest online retailer.
