Ford recalls more than 250,000 Focus models due to engine stall risk
Ford Announces Recall of Over 250,000 Focus Vehicles Over Engine Stall Risk
Ford recalls more than 250 000 Focus - The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that Ford is initiating a recall for more than 250,000 Focus models due to a defect that could cause engine stalling during operation. This follows incorrect repairs conducted under an earlier recall aimed at addressing the same issue.
Recall Scope and Affected Models
The recall covers 255,404 Ford Focus automobiles manufactured between 2012 and 2018. The core issue relates to a potential malfunction in the canister purge valve, which might remain open unexpectedly. This can lead to sudden engine stalls while driving, heightening the risk of accidents and injuries.
The federal agency noted that impacted vehicles might display a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) or show inaccurate fuel gauge readings, distance-to-empty estimates, and drivability issues.
Repair Process and Owner Notifications
Dealers will offer a complimentary powertrain software update to resolve the problem. Customers are anticipated to receive official recall letters between July 6 and July 10. Those wishing to check if their vehicle is included can reach Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or visit a local Ford or Lincoln dealership.
