July 4 Fireworks Recall Expands to Over 100,000 Units
More than 100 000 fireworks recalled – As the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day, federal safety regulators have announced a recall of more than 100,000 fireworks due to potential safety hazards. The affected products, sold nationwide, include the Winco “Unity 7 Shot” 200-gram aerial cake devices, which were identified as posing risks of malfunction. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) stated that these fireworks could tip over, leading to explosions or burns.
Winco is urging consumers to return the recalled items to the stores where they were purchased for a complete refund. Approximately 87,000 units of the “Unity 7 Shot” fireworks were sold from January through May, with prices ranging between $6 and $8 per device. The recall includes Pyro City stores and other independent retailers across the United States.
Additional Recall for Roman Candles
Separately, the CPSC has also recalled Winco’s “Roman Candles 8 Shot 3-Pack Firework Devices.” These products were found to risk side tube explosions, potentially causing burn injuries. Around 13,500 units are involved in this recall. Customers seeking information about either recall are encouraged to contact Winco directly.
“To date, no injuries related to the fireworks have been reported,” the CPSC noted. “However, the potential for harm remains significant, prompting the recall.”
Consumer fireworks are expected to generate substantial revenue this year, with the American Pyrotechnics Association reporting approximately $2.2 billion in 2025. The organization anticipates a rise in sales as the country commemorates its 250th anniversary on July 4, highlighting the holiday’s growing significance in the market.
